Mamta to marry childhood friend

Reigning actress-singer Mamta Mohandas is going to enter wedlock! Mamta's mother confirmed that her daughter will marry her childhood friend next year, but she said more details of the groom would be divulged post the engagement to be held in November. Talking about her relationship with her childhood friend, the actress said during an interview: "It’s not a filmy kind romance where he proposed with roses. It was actually a bond that developed over the years. In fact, he is also very close to my father. I used to visit my family in Bahrain for holidays and he used to join me there.” "Eventually, we realized that we are made for each other as we share a lot of common interests and resolved to take our relationship to the next level. With family approving the relationship, we are thinking of settling down next year.” she added.

Salt 'N' Pepper collects 5.10 crores

Director Ashiq Abu’s romantic comedy Salt 'N’ Pepper, starring Lal, Asif Ali, Shweta Menon, Mythili Baburaj and Vijayaraghavan in the lead roles, is turning out to be a blockbuster! The film, which released on July 8, has grossed a whopping Rs. 5.10 crores and the distributors' share is said to be approximately Rs. 2.60 crores. Notably, the cost of the film, including P&A (prints and ads) is only Rs. 1.65 crores! The television rights of the film were sold for Rs. 1.15 crores. |

Mammootty's PA turns producer

Malayalam superstar Mammootty's long time personal assistant S. George is turning producer with director Deepan's Newsmaker, starring Mammootty as a crusader journalist. George is producing the film under the banner of Cincil Celluloid. Notably, this is not the first time the personal assistant of a star becomes a producer. Earlier, Mohanlal’s personal assistant Antony Perumbavoor became a producer and his Aashirwad Cinemas is today a big banner. The script is written by Vinod Guruvayoor; Newsmaker will commence only after the director completes his ongoing Hero, starring Prithviraj, and it would be Mammootty's Onam release in 2012.

Dileep to start 'Nadodimannan'

After completing his new movie with Laljose titled 'Spanish Masala', Janapriyanayakan is getting ready to start his new movie with Viji Thampi titled 'Nadodimannan' in a couple of months. Featuring Reema Kallingal, Mamtha Mohandas and Bhavana as the heroines, the movie based on a story by V S Suresh is scripted to suit the screen by Krishna Poojappura. Dileep will appear in the role of a young man who is accidentally placed in the post of a city Mayor. Produced by V S Subhash in the banner of Chithram films, the movie will have six songs by Vidhya Sagar. Watch this space for more updates about the movie.

Asin in Rajavinte Makan remake?

While leading Malayalam producer and megastar Mohanlal's associate Antony Perumbavoor is gearing up to commence the remake of super hit Rajavinte Makan (1986), it is now learned that actress Asin is likely to don the role of Ancy, played by Ambika in the original. Some sources said that Vidya Balan is also being considered for the role. Dennis Joseph, who scripted the original, has completed the script of the remake to be directed by Thampi Kannanthanam, the original director. Suresh Gopi, who had a pivotal role in the original, is likely to be part of the remake. In Rajavinte Makan, Mohanlal played an underworld don Vincent Gomez; Suresh Gopi essayed the role of Vincent Gomez's trusted henchman.

Priyan restarts AOPMN

Director Priyadarshan has restarted the shooting of 'Arabiyum Ottakavum P. Madhavan Nairum (AOPMN)' at the Ramoji Rao Studios in Hyderabad. Mohanlal has joined the sets of the movie, which will also have Mukesh and Shakthi Kapoor in important roles. Lakshmi Rai and Bhavana are the heroines of the movie, which is expected to be on theatres by the month of November. Mohanlal's earlier movies shot at Ramoji like Udayananu Tharam, China Town and Shikar had been good hits and so the fans of the star will be expecting another big hit in AOPMN.

He has given some of the finest work to the Indian cinema but noted film director Adoor Gopalakrishnan believes that movies today fail to make an impact on the audience."If you want to be mature as a filmmaker, you have to be ruthless with your film only then will it make an impact on the audience. The film should always keep you on the edge and curious about what is going to happen next. Todays films have become repetitive," Adoor said.The 70-year-old director was in the capital to attend Jeevika Film Festival, an organisation that showcases socially relevant documentaries by professional and amateur filmmakers.

Dileep to ask 'Ithaano Karyam'?

Janapriya Nayakan Dileep who is shooting for his Spanish Masala with director Laljose in Spain, will be back to Kerala on the eight of September, that is on the ThiruOnam day. The star who had five big hits in recent times, couldn’t get any of his new films to theatres for this Onam. His much planned 'Mr Marumakan' could not be completed as his co star in the movie Khushboo suffered a leg injury and was advised rest for a month. But Dileep is planning to kick start the shoot of his another film directed by Akku Akbar, this season itself. Titled as 'Ithano Karyam', the actor is said to be much impressed by the plot lines of this family comedy that he wants the movie to get released as his offering for Christmas or for early months of January. As per the current reports, the shooting for 'Ithaano Karyam' will start by the mid of September and the movie may well follow the league of Jayaram blockbuster Veruthe Oru Bharya, which was the biggest hit from the director.
