Amy Jackson moves to malayalam movies

After bringing in a Chinese model to play the lead in the hit movie ‘Arabikkatha’, ace Mollywood director Laljose is said to have made a master casting for his new movie ‘Spanish masala’. The reports suggest that Laljose has already met Amy Jackson, the famous British model and has made her agree to be the part of the film, playing Dileep’s heroine. The movie which tells the love story between a Malayali youngster and a Spanish girl, is scripted by Benny P Nayarambalam. Amy who has already made a mark in Indian films, had made her debut in Tamil films through the Arya starrer ‘Madirasipattanam’. She is also the heroine of ‘Premkatha’, the Hindi remake of ‘Vinnaithandi Varuvaya’.

Megastar Mammootty has a panache for appearing in roles of underworld dons. Be it in a two decade old ‘Samrajyam’ or ‘Athirathram’ or the latest ‘Big B’, the star has been exceptional whenever he was cast in similar roles. Now ‘ Aashiq Abu’ the young director of ‘Daddy Cool’ is getting ready to start his new movie titled ‘Gangster’ with Mammootty in the lead. The movie scheduled to start in a few months will also feature Parthipan and Rohini Hattangadi in other important roles. Meanwhile ‘Aashiq Abu’ will have his latest ‘Salt and Pepper’ in theatres by tomorrow. The movie featuring Lal, Shwetha menon, Mydhili and Asif Ali is touted as a humorous family movie.

 


Madhu Kaithapuram's Orma Mathram gets 'U' certificate from Censor!

Director Madhu Kaithapuram's off-beat movie Orma Mathram, which features actor Dileep and actress Priyanka Nair in the leads, has already completed its production works. The Malayalam film has recently cleared the formalities of the Censor Board and has received a clean 'U' certificate. The film follows a father's journey in search of his missing son. Orma Matram revolves around Dileep, a clerk at a lawyer's office and a Hindu who had an intercast marriage with a Muslim played by Priyanka. CV Balakrishnan has penned the screenplay based on Rahim Kadvath's story. The film Orma Mathram has been produced and distributed by Horizon Entertainment.

 


Mammootty's to offer students scholarships

The Care and Share foundation based at Kochy, working under the patronage of Megastar Mammootty will offer student scholarships, this year. The scholarships will be given to students living in orphanages, who have qualified for merit seats of professional courses in various colleges of the state. The foundation has invited applications from deserving candidates, with valid copy of qualifying certificates. The applications must be addressed to the project officer of Care and share international foundation, P B No 1755 at Kochi.

 


Radhika entering Kollywood

Young and Beautiful Malayalam actress Radhika is flying off to Kollywood. According to Earlier reports the actress had lot of offers in the past but she was waiting for the good script. She is entering Tamil films through director Ramji S Balan's upcoming movie Udumban. The movie  which feature  bike race champian Dileep roger as the hero have Radhika in the role of a researcher and also as a office staff. Radhika recently changed her name to Sana for Tamil audiences.The movie is produced by Jeganadhan under the banner Modern Cinemas. Lyrics by Kalyanasundaram.

 


Mammootty named the best actor in Filmfare awards

The year’s Filmfare awards for South Indian films was announced yesterday. Megastar Mammootty was named the best actor for his performance in’ Pranchiyettan and the Saint’ while Mamtha Mohandas was named the best actress for ‘katha thudaraunnu’.'Pranchiyettan and the saint’ also bagged the awards for the best picture and best director for Renjith. While Hariharan was selected as the best singer for ‘katha Thudarunnu’, Shreya Ghoshal was named the best female singer for her song’ Kizhakku pookkkum ‘from ‘Anwar’. Urvashy was selected as the best supporting actress while Biju Menon was named as the best supporting actor. Gopi Sundar bagged the award for the best music director. Vikram and Allu Arjun was named the best actors in Tamil and Telugu respectively. A R Rehman was named the bets musician in Tamil and Telugu while ‘Maina’ was named the best feature in Tamil.

  

Anoop menon surrounded by plenty of offers

As Anoop menon has emerged as one of the most wanted actor of the year with his few films, the actor is now surrounded by meaty offers. The latest project that he has given green signal seems to be the movie ‘Josettante hero,’ to be directed by K K Haridas. The movie tells a story with movie making as the backdrop. While Vijayaraghavan appear as the title character of Josettan, who is a senior film producer.
Anoop Menon comes up as Saajan Malyath’ the still photographer of the movie who is accidentally selected to become the hero of the new movie on production. ‘Josettante hero’ will have scripts by Anzar Kalabhavan and Sathyan Kolangad. The movie to be cinematographed by Senthilraaj will be on sets by the first week of July.

  

'Avalude Ravugal' To Be Remade with Prithviraj

As the remade version of old time hits like ‘Neelathaamara’ and ‘Rathinirvedham’ has managed to keep their producers and the viewers happy, more plans are out in similar lines in Mollywood. One film that is being considered for such a remake is I V Sasi’s ‘Avalude Raavukal’ which came out in the late seventies. One of the much debated movie of the time due to its controversial content ‘ Avalude Raavukal-2′ will most probably feature a fresh face in the role that Seema has done in the original. I V Sasi himself will be calling the shots for this remake also, which will be produced by Liberty films. While the role done by late Sukumaran in the original will be handled by his son Prithviraj in the remake, I V Sasi is now busy fixing the actors for other characters of the movie, which will have almost all the sequences as its original.

  

All stars getting ready for onam release

All the big stars of Malayalam, including the Big M’s are getting ready with their movies for the biggest festival season of kerala, Onam. Megastar Mammootty will be ready with his ‘King and the Commissioner’ which will also have Sureshgopi in the title role. This Shaji kailas movie is expected to be on theatres by the 30th of August.

Mohanlal will have his Blessy film ‘Pranayam’ which will also feature Jayapradha and Anupam Kher, for this Onam. The movie is expected to be on theatres by the 26th of August.

Dileep’s Onam offering will be ‘Mr Marumakan’ with Sandhya Mohan. Featuring Sanusha for the first time as the heroine, this humorous flick will also have Tamil star Bhagyaraj and Poornima in important roles.

Prithviraj’s Onam film will be ‘Thejabhai and Family’ directed by Deepu Karunakaran. Tamil star Vijay will also have his ‘Velayudham’ for this Onam, which will get to 90 centres. Plans are on to push the Jayaram movie ‘Ulakam Chuttum Vaaliban’ by Rajbabu for the season.
