'Traffic' celebrates 100 days

The first big hit of the year Traffic' will celebrate it's hundred days today. The function planned at Gokulam Convention centre at Ernakulam will have all the actors and technicians of the movie. Plans are on to bring in Kamalhassan, who will be donning the lead role in its Tamil remake, as the celebrity guest of the function. Directed by Rajesh Pillai, the movie is expected to have made a profit of around 2.5 crores to its producer.

Sheela with Mohanlal in Sathyan Anthikad's film

Veteran actress Sheela made an outstanding comeback to Malayalam films through Sathyan Anthikkad's super hit 2003 film Manassinakkare only to disappear from the scene once again. Though she did a couple of films in between in Tamil and Malayalam, they were not quite as impressive as Manassinakkare.
Now, after a gap, she has signed yet another Sathyan Anthikkad film, starring superstar Mohanlal in the lead role. According to sources, Sheela’s role in this untitled film is substantial. Padmapriya will be the heroine. The film will be produced by Antony Perumbavoor under the banner of Ashirvad Cinemas.

July wedding for Prabhu-Nayan?

It looks like ace director Prabhu Deva and actress Nayantara will tie the knot sometime in June or July 2011. Sources say that the delay in their marriage is because of the ongoing divorce case filed by Prabhu Deva and his wife Ramlatha before the family court of Chennai in December 2010. Initially, Ramlatha was unwilling to settle for a compromise, but when Prabhu Deva offered her a huge compensation in alimony, including three residential properties and two cars, she accepted the compromise.
According to a source, Prabhu has already started giving the alimony he promised and as a first step, he recently paid her Rs. 5 lakhs. A farmhouse and a 22-cent property in ECR have also been transferred to Ramlatha and their two sons Rishi and Aditya. Besides a property in Hyderabad, a flat in Anna Nagar will also be transferred to Ramlatha.

Mr Marumakan has started rolling

Dileep starrer Mr Marumakan has started rolling in Kochi. The film had a pooja function held at DD retreat Kochi before the start, last Friday. Kaviyoor Ponnamma lighted the lamp in the presence of Dileep, K. Bhagyaraj and Sanusha. Tamil director-actor Bhagyaraj is playing an important role in the movie. Sanusha is the heroine. Dileep Bhagyaraj combination scenes are going on in Kochi. Earlier the shoot was planned in Hyderabad. But then it has been changed to Kochi. Movie is directed by Sandhya Mohan and scripted by Siby Udayan duo.

Prithviraj to make his debut in Bollywood

Malayalam young super star Prithviraj Sukumaran is now getting ready to make his debut in Bollywood. The movie will be directed by Sachin Kundalkar. Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap has confirmed Prithvi and Rani as the lead cast in his next venture. Director is planning an off beat subject.

Popular Malayalam actor Prithviraj marriage with Supriya Menon – Prithvi who is also well known in Telugu and Tamil film industries married his longtime girlfriend Supriya today. Prithviraj and Supriya Menon, who is a BBC journalist know each other for four years and finally got married today with their elders consent. Supriya interviewed Prithvi few years ago and that is when he felt that she is the right partner for him.

Two kids die after being hit by actor Thilakan’s car

Two children died after a car in which actor Thilakan was travelling hit an autorickshaw. The children have been identified as Farzeen Khan and Fathima Fija. According to reports Thilakan also received injuries following the accident which occured near Payyaparamb Highschool, Pandikkad in Malappuram.

Prithviraj wages war against piracy of Urumi

Malayalam star Prithviraj has now waged a war against film piracy, by registering a complaint with the Cyber Cell and requested the Cell to crack down the culprits who have made his latest film 'Urumi' available online. It had come to Prithvi's notice that a website based in the US had offered opportunities to download the film that was a shot on a huge budget of around 20 crores.
Besides playing the lead role, Prithviraj is also one among the producers of the film. It has got lot of demand in the market, but he fears that the free downloading of the movie would affect its collection at the Box Office. Especially in UAE, it is expected to get huge market, where the film has not yet been released.

Mammootty to act in Basheer's Balyakalasakhi

Megastar Mammootty will act in a Malayalam romantic tragedy, which would be penned by Vaikom Muhammad Basheer's best novel Balyakalasakhi'. Earlier the actor had acted in Adoor's 'Mathilukal', based on Basheer's novel. Sources claim that the actor would play the character of the romantic hero Majeed in the upcoming film, which would start shooting soon. Its debutant director Pramod Payyannur who would be directing the cinematic version of Basheer's renowned work 'Balyakalasakhi'. Famous Ghazal singer Shahbaz Aman would compose the music for the film.
